I know it's been a while since I've posted. Summers are just so wonderful here I find myself outside every second I can. Today was a rainy day so the kids and I decided to make a fairy house and since Halloween is just around the corner we dressed it up with a little Halloween flair. Not too scary, I was informed that fairies don't like scary things! Click on the above photo to see more of our little creation!
So this is what we did. I wanted to do this inside but eventually put it outside so we cut a cardboard box down. This way we could bury it out in the garden and the cardboard would let water through and decompose, then we filled the box with dirt. Earlier in the week, we collected all kinds of sticks - the straighter the better - and a bunch of other great stuff from the yard. With the box on some plastic on the table and the pruners and glue gun all ready to go, we went crazy! The next thing I knew there was a house complete with bed and night table, an outdoor table set for a feast, a hammock, a fire pit and even a tire swing! Chinese lanterns from the garden made perfect Jack-O-Lanterns! I hope you enjoy this as much as we do. Who knows, maybe a real fairy will take up residence and bed down for the winter!
